How Much Urine Would You Like With That?

Posted by People in , , ,

The question that teens would ask me every Wednesday night: "Pastor Phil, how much can I get away with and still be a Christian?". After hearing that question for many weeks and months I heard an answer I could live with.

If you were to order a drink at a restaurant and upon it's arrival you noticed that the color that you are used to was slightly skewed. It was unfamiliar at best. More than likely you would ask your server to explain the unusual coloration. What if the reply was, "I sneezed in it on the way over, sorry. But the ratio Clean to Dirty is still good." What is the ratio of Clean to Dirty? When it comes to our food I think we all agree, 100 percent clean. Ever been using the bathroom at a restaurant and notice an employee leave without washing? Not a fun situation.

What is our desire as Christians? Are we constantly asking Jesus to tolerate what we consider acceptable purity? The Bible says it best: Eph 5:3 - "But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people." As Christians let us strive for purity and don't ask Jesus to accept anything less.
